Mattress materials
Secrets from nature are used for the perfect mattress. Natural latex, cotton virgin wool, wild silk, bamboo, camel hair, cashmere, and more. Each natural material has properties that are not found in synthetic substitutes. Natural materials are sustainably transformed into the perfect mattress. The benefits of natural materials include extra sleeping comfort, heat regulation, and durability.
Natural latex is widely used in mattresses. This natural material distinguishes itself by its elastic and moisture-wicking properties. It is extracted from rubber trees. The sap from the tree is collected and processed in a factory. There, it is subsequently poured into a mold and baked in an oven. The addition of air is crucial to increasing the elasticity of the mattress. The process is comparable to baking a cake. Without air, the cake would turn into a brownie, which is more compact and less elastic. The perfect mattress is supple and elastic so that you lie in bed, not just on it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”2/3″][image_with_animation image_url=”258087″ alignment=”” animation=”Fade In”][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]A mattress made of pocket springs has more resilience and is firmer. Covering material
The natural mattress is covered with top layers that have been obtained in an animal-friendly manner. The quality of a top layer determines the comfort and lifespan of the mattress. With a thin top layer, little regulation is possible and wear occurs more quickly. Synthetic top layers often give a stuffy feeling. A natural top layer is made up of multiple materials. The materials are stitched together by machines in a factory. It is a very precise job in which a production worker keeps a close eye on everything.
Merino wool: a high-quality wool sourced from the Merino sheep. Silky soft and thinner than traditional wool. As a result, it insulates and breathes better. Morpheus uses only wool with the KbT certificate; this ensures that all wool is sourced in an animal-friendly manner.
Alpaca wool: one of the most coveted and luxurious types of wool. The wool comes from alpacas in the South American Andes Mountains. The wool is insulating and absorbs moisture well. It is fully sustainable and biodegradable.
Lambswool: Morpheus uses lambswool sourced from the first shearing of the New Zealand lamb. The wool is a thermal insulator and absorbs moisture well. The material we use is GOTS certified. The wool is sourced in an animal-friendly manner and is fully organic.
Camel wool: one of the best insulating types of wool. Because camels live in the desert, the wool has a cooling effect during the day and a warming effect at night. Camels shed their hair, ensuring the wool is obtained in an animal-friendly and artisanal way.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”2/3″][image_with_animation image_url=”258086″ alignment=”” animation=”Fade In”][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]In addition to wool, other natural materials are used for a covering layer:
Bamboo: is used as a covering layer because it insulates very well. Bamboo has good moisture-wicking properties. It is also hypoallergenic and antistatic, and is sourced and processed in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.
Silk: is the strongest natural fiber. It is an elastic, insulating, and moisture-absorbing material. Morpheus silk is GOTS certified. This means that it is sourced in an animal-friendly and environmentally friendly manner.
Cashmere: a soft and supple type of wool. The wool is obtained by combing the coat of a goat, primarily the undercoat, neck, and chin. Morpheus uses exclusively cashmere sourced from goats in the Himalayas.
Cotton: is used by Morpheus in both the top layer and the mattress cover. It is a soft material, breathes well, and absorbs moisture. Cotton cultivation is not always good for the environment. Most of Morpheus's cotton meets the GOTS certification.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]
Combination makes perfect
Many different factors play a role in the perfect mattress. However, the use of exclusively natural materials is very important, for both the mattress and the top layer. Only nature holds the secret to regulating heat and coolness—something that cannot be replicated in synthetic materials, just like moisture-absorbing capacity! The advisors at Morpheus would be happy to show you how natural materials make the difference. Feel free to visit one of our stores.
