In the past, people wore a nightcap to stay nice and warm. Fortunately, this is no longer necessary these days. But which materials keep you warm at night? And at what temperature do we actually sleep best? Morpheus shares 3 sleep tips to get through the winter warm.

#1 Natural materials that keep you warm

We cannot say it often enough. Choose a duvet made of natural materials; in winter, cashmere, camel hair, or down are the best choice. Cashmere offers better moisture and temperature regulation than sheep's wool, and the product is known for its excellent insulating properties. The same applies to camel hair; this type of wool insulates better than traditional wool. Additionally, both materials are very soft and supple, providing a light feel. In the Morpheus collection, we have various cashmere or wool duvets specifically tailored to the different seasons.

You will also experience a wonderfully light feeling with a down duvet. It drapes smoothly over your body. The trapped air between the down feathers provides excellent insulation that keeps out the cold in winter, but also the heat in summer; you use one and the same down duvet for multiple seasons. The sleep advisors in our stores will be happy to advise you on a 4-season duvet that perfectly matches your needs.

#2 The right temperature for sleeping

To wake up feeling rested, it is important that the bedroom is neither too warm nor too cold. The best temperature for a good night's sleep is around 18 degrees Celsius. Turning on the heating in the bedroom? Preferably not; in the evening, the hormone melatonin causes body temperature to drop. The body wants to get rid of the heat in order to fall asleep quickly and soundly. Additionally, heating makes the air drier. People prefer to sleep at a humidity of 50%; dry air can cause coughing or shortness of breath.

#3 Sleeping longer in winter?

Do you need to sleep longer in the winter? No, that is not necessary. However, we do need more sleep in the winter. The main reason for this is that the days are shorter. Our bodies produce more melatonin, which causes us to feel sleepy sooner. Additionally, we use more energy to keep ourselves warm in the winter. Nevertheless, more sleep is not necessary. However, it is important to maintain a consistent sleep pattern.
